Core Essentials
Strength Training That Goes Beyond Machines
Starting a fitness and lifestyle change can be an overwhelming task. I want your experience to be non-intimidating, stress free, and most of all attainable based on your abilities and lifestyle constraints.

Before you begin the journey towards improved health and fitness, please download the file below.  Fill it out and bring with you to your first appointment. This will save time.

What to expect on your first appointment:

-You will submit your "Preliminary Questionnaire"  and we will discuss your medical history together  (as well as your goals) which will ultimately dictate the course of your fitness program.

-I will also conduct a  postural assessment   which is designed to detect postural faults (or deviations) that may hinder optimal performance during exercise and activities of daily living.  This is a very important component as it can ultimately dictate a program that is truly indivualized to your unique posture.

-I also conduct a brief  movement screen  that is designed to detect the quality of motion during basic activities.  Corrective exercises will be prescribed if anything is detected that is abnormal.

-An optional body fat analysis will be conducted with goal setting strategies.

-Upon completion of the above assessments, a strength and conditioning program will be designed based on the findings.

Approximate Time: 1 hour and 15 minutes

Note: If you are a post rehab patient (recently discharged from physical therapy), I will contact your physical therapist (with your consent). This will ensure a comprehensive fitness program based on input from your physical therapist.

WHAT TO WEAR:

Wear something loose fitting. Ideally, if you can bring a pair of shorts with you to change into, it would be helpful in detecting any lower body postural/movement abnormalities.

Be sure and watch the video on the HOME PAGE for more details.

ONE LAST THING...

I am a firm believer in wearing shoes based on your foot type. So many people I've trained over the years and continue to train ignore (unintentionally) the importance of wearing a sneaker that matches their foot type.

Be prepared to get educated on how important footwear is in regards to preventing injuries and promoting proper alignment.

I recommend the following retail stores in the Metro-West Area when purchasing sneakers:

 Reason for Recommending this Facility:
"Each customer, regardless of their personal experience or activity level, receives a personal consultation with one of our highly trained staff to determine how the foot bears the body’s weight during the gait cycle. Through this observation―and bearing in mind any past or present injuries or concerns, orthotic use, and training level―an accurate shoe recommendation can be made."

Reason for Recommending this Facility:
"PR Running has a process for helping you determine which category of support is right for your foot type and gait. First we will look at your feet without shoes and have you walk in the store. Next you can expect to run a few strides on our treadmill in a shoe that will help us determine what is happening through your gait cycle. Finally you will begin to test shoes that properly support your individual foot type."
